Beaches & Islands
150 km south to the Chittagong is the town of Cox's Bazar along the coastline of Bay of Bengal. The sandy beach gently slope down to the water of the Bay against the picturesque background of a chain of hills covered with green forest. The inviting sea water is safe for swimming and surfing and free from sharks. It is nearly 120 km long and claimed to be the longest and broadest natural beach in the world. Here you may see miles of silvery sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, unique conch shell, sea fish market.
Himchari is another nice beach by its reputation just 20 km south of Cox's Bazar. 120 Km beach drive from Cox's Bazar to Teknaf peninsula can be a lifetime experience. The unique beach of Kuakata is situated about 100 km off to the Barisal township where one can enjoy the rare experience of sighting both sunrise and sunset. The coral island of St. Martin is the only offshore island of the country, dedicated mainly to the tourist. It takes about five hours to reach the tranquil island by car and boat from Cox's Bazar. Solitude loving tourists and divers find the area is a fascinating one.
Moheskhali is a beautiful island accessible by motor trawler or speedboat from Cox's Bazar where you can visit dried fish processing zone and salt producing from sea water. It has a long beach with a background of "Casuarina" trees. It is only the hilly island in Bangladesh and containing the Adinath temple at a peak.
